Associate Director (Dementia Programs)

JOB PURPOSE:
Respite Care Charleston is a nonprofit organization providing support and services to individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

The Associate Director is a new position responsible for oversight and delivery of existing programs, collaborating to expand and develop new services, managing program staff, and assisting with other activities related to the organization’s mission.

This position is community based and requires the ability to work at multiple sites in Charleston County. Some on-site program delivery will be required weekdays from 9:30am to 2:00pm. Following onboarding, flexible hours and remote work may be optional for the balance of a 40-hour week.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure successful delivery of programs in accordance with RCC mission and goals
- Plan and deliver stimulating programs, with activities that engage diverse individuals with varied levels of neurocognitive impairment
- Provide prospective clients information on RCC programs and services, following up as appropriate
- Conduct new client assessments, create and periodically update records and case notes
- Recruit, hire and train program staff and volunteers, encouraging engagement through regular meetings and continuing education
- Supervise, schedule and manage program staff, conducting regular evaluations and providing coaching
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients to provide support and access to additional resources and services
- Revise and strengthen policies and procedures and ensure adherence to promote safety and program quality
- Manage program budgets, monitor resources and procure supplies
- Develop and sustain relationships with program contacts, vendors, donors and community partners to ensure sufficient resources for quality programming

• Conduct regular evaluations of programs and clients, compile data, draft reports and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for continuous improvement

• Develop and implement new programs and initiatives aligned with the strategic goals of the organization

• Assist with outreach, fundraising and marketing activities for the nonprofit
- Represent RCC at health fairs, community events and gatherings of senior service and elder care professionals
- Collaborate to create content for the organization’s website, newsletter and social media accounts (photos, videos, resources and other relevant information) and to design promotional materials, displays and collateral
- Work with volunteer committees to plan, promote and execute special events such as fundraisers, community outings and educational offerings
- In partnership with the executive director, coordinate community outreach events, including scheduling speaking engagements, editing presentations and talking points
- Assist the executive director with donor solicitation, cultivation, stewardship and grant reports

QUALIFICATIONS
• Must have 3+ years of experience managing personnel, including hiring, training and evaluation.
• Strong project management, program evaluation, organization and interpersonal skills required.
• Must have demonstrated initiative and ability to work well independently.
• Professional experience in healthcare, social work, case management or other human services strongly preferred.
Experience with dementia or elder care is a significant advantage!
• Requires compassion, patience, flexibility, creativity and commitment to serving others.
• Must be able to maintain a positive attitude, calm demeanor and outward confidence under a variety of work conditions.
• Strong time management and computer skills are required, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google applications.
• Will be required to receive training in first aid, CPR and dementia care.
• COVID-19 vaccination strongly encouraged.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
• Should be comfortable working with individuals with memory loss and cognitive impairment, certified therapy animals, young children, adult students and others engaged in the program setting
• Must have access to reliable transportation throughout Charleston County
• Must be able to regularly stand and walk for 4-6 hours at a time and to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to assist with seat-to-standing transitions, ambulation and toileting
• Must be able to successfully pass a background check

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Salary range is $45,000 to $55,000 depending on experience
• Partial insurance reimbursement and phone allowance provided
• Vacation / sick leave / paid time off may be accrued
