Our October All About Seniors Connections meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 3:00 PM at The Palmettos Assisted Living, 810 E. Butler Rd., Greenville. Ashley Waters and Kathryn Davis will be our hosts and will provide refreshments.
Our guest speaker will be Sarah Eaton, Board Chair for Touched by ALS.
The Touched by ALS organization is the first of its kind in the Upstate of South Carolina that exists specifically to serve those diagnosed with ALS. Greenville, SC is home to one of two public ALS Clinics accredited by The ALS Association in South Carolina. Over the past two years, the number of individuals clinically diagnosed with ALS receiving care in Greenville has grown by 50%. According to the Greenville ALS Clinic, the out of pocket patient cost of care AFTER insurance is, on average, $110,000. Touched By ALS exists to alleviate the burdens that this fatal diagnosis brings to not only the patient, but to their family and loved ones. The thing about ALS is that it doesn’t just affect the patient who gets the diagnosis. It changes life for all of us who care about that person, as well as the roles we play in their new journey.

All About Seniors Connections is an open group of professionals working with people who are disabled or aged in the Upstate area. The purpose of the group is to learn about resources in the area that will help the people in our community. Professionals working with these groups are invited to attend.
Reservations are not required but appreciated. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, October 15th at 3PM at The Palmettos Assisted Living, 810 E. Butler Rd., Greenville.
